Rooms and beds are large and comfortable.
The staff are really good. The cleaners are top tier.
It does have a water damage smell but you don't notice it.
Free wifi but it's very slow.
Rooms have old school TVs - no Netflix or YouTube.
You aren't here to watch TV anyways, mate.
The breakfast is expensive around $20 but comparable to everywhere else.
The aircon is locked to 20 degrees, which is a bit cheeky.
Views out of the seventh floor king room are amazing.

I had a wonderful stay during the whole travel in Gold Coast thanks to friendly staff. 😆
and it was my first time to provide my valid card for a pre-authorization damage deposit but all employees there gave me full description including the hotel policy.
(They did not take any money but only confirmed if my card was valid, which means you do not need to worry about getting a refund of deposit by waiting for over 7 days.)
If you are considering the price, silent rest and cleaness above all, I would like to recommend staying here.
Unlike other negative reviews, I have never found any bugs or dirty things. It was super tidy and clean with no much noise, so I could make myself at home really.

And especially, I could see the ocean view, which I have never expected to see anything wonderful like one of the pictures I am posting, because the property is located quite far from the ocean. 🫢😲
And you can approach the tram station in 5 minutes on foot and can catch tram from/to helensvale station.
With a very reasonable price, I could stay on the highest floor and could see the horizontal ocean view with the clear weather in the morning and afternoon. 😀
For your information, you should tap your room card key to the card reader at the main entrance door after 7 pm and you should put your room card key right under the buttons on the lift so do not forget to bring your card key every time you go out, and I think it is for guests' security. 😀
And there is an opened lift to go upstairs from the entrance door and you have to push going up/down button for like 30 seconds straight, otherwise it would stop. But please don't worry. It is slow but safe and convenient without carrying your heavy suitcases on the stairs. 😄

There are places that you never forget. The Woodroffe Hotel is one of them. It’s the best bolt hole on the Gold Coast, minutes away from a major shopping precinct, next to a basketball court where young people exercise all day every day. Parking is available at the basketball court and is surrounded by a well kept parkland.
When one approaches reception two very polite and courteous courtiers attend to all enquiries and make registration a gentle breeze.
With key card in hand to activate the lift to the assigned floor, then the key card will open the door to the allocated room. Pop the key card into its light slot and it’s all systems go. The rooms are maintained at a pleasant 21 degrees, and the air-conditioning adjustment is simple and effective. The wide windows give a good panoramic views of the Gold Coast and its ubiquitous cranes.
While the furnishings are sparse they are more than but adequate. the ensuites are furnished with towels and toiletry necessities. The beds are comfortable with extra clean linen. The rooms are service regularly and thoroughly.
Television and internet is provided free of charge.
An added advantage is the 8am to 10am breakfast cafe serving an excellent range of breakfast repast. The coffee is excellent, the avocado on toast delightful and full breakfast is plentiful.
No one can find fault with the cafe staff. They are pleasantly courteous and serve with a welcoming smile.
The Woodroffe is the best affordable bolt hole on the Gold Coast. It is almost our second home. We feel welcomed and comfortable there. We can only recommend it to those who need a place to sleep, relax and as abase for discovering the delights of the Gold Coast, especially by the ultra cheap public transport ie trams.

This has to be the best bolt-hole on the Gold Coast.
Close to Australia Fair (walking distance)
Friendly staff, good breakfast facilities
Rooms well cared for and quite comfortable.
Access security excellent.
My absolute preferred accommodation.

Great location as it's just walking distance to Southport Chinatown. Lots of dining options and great shopping at the the Australian Fair Shopping Centre. Plenty of cafes, kbbq, sushi at night times too.
